Rural Imagination and Narrative Strategies in Online Literature

Rural novels are a very minority type of online literature, which is not only related to the evolution of rural narratives in Chinese literature, but also related to the urban cultural characteristics of online literature itself as popular literature. This type of work satisfies the public’s rural imagination by creating characters that can give readers a sense of substitution. In addition to successful narratives of the characters, the patterned story routines and highlighting the mainstream value, it also uses images that provide empathy and contrast effects to enhancement of narrative tension. Also those have formed a new narrative tone.
