To explain the external manifestations and internal causes of the phenomenon of XuHuaizhong’s literary works, we need to explore and focus on the development and evolution of Xu Huaizhong’s literary style. Xu Huaizhong’s writing career spanning 70 years mainly shows the following characteristics: there is a strong contrast between the small quantity and the high quality; he is sensitive to the pulse of the times, looking forward to the trend of the times, advancing with the times from the edge to the center in different historical periods, and he has also contributed a breakthrough artistic image to military literature. Xu Huaizhong’s style, through the refining of time, has gone from the soft and beautiful to the vigorous, from the realistic to the freehand, and finally perfectly integrates the two extreme styles.
