Rural Bitter Love: Lu Yao’s Rural Space Construction

Lu Yao’s writing is deeply rooted in his hometown, a rural village in northern Shaanxi Province. His creations are profoundly influenced by regional culture, with “rural bitter love” being the primary background tone of his works. While narrating stories, he depicts a complete rural image in his mind through his descriptions of the rural landscape, characters, weather, and even the overall narrative structure. The rural space of northern Shaanxi is endowed with new life under Lu’s pen.
