Environmental History of the Pacific Ocean
(Abstract)
Ryan T. Jones
The Pacific Ocean is the widest sea area on Earth and a crucial part of global history. It navigates the global environment and hosts a large number of fish and other marine organisms. Understanding the history of human interaction with the ocean is very important. This article reviews the issues that can integrate Pacific environmental history research, distinguishing the Pacific region from other parts of the Earth. This article focuses specifically on the energy flow in the region and discusses its origin and impact on Pacific islands, margins, and marine environments.
