The Sanbokdoro Renewal Project:representation of the spirit of the Busan City (Abstract)

The city planning should shift to the conception of city strategy. The aim of the article is to describe the changes of the urban redevelopment policies of Busan in terms of city strategy and the strategy in the local public policies. In terms of the ways to implement urban redevelopment project, Busan has tried to avoid the defects of previous practices of demolition to overcome the logic of the market-centered redevelopment. Moreover, the city has turned from development of existing spaces to discovery of new spaces, which is to actively find the vitality of a place and its cultural and historical value. It is also the conceptual shift from investment in developing cities to maturing cities.
