From the historical perspectives of the productive forces and productive relations during the past 40 years, we can reflect on the achievements and shortcomings of studies of literary ideology, superstructure and art production. The basic tenets are adhering to the socialist direction of the development of literature and art on the one hand, and the ideology of literature and art without denying the non-ideological aspect on the other hand; then adopting the perspective of productivity and paying attention to the non-productive mode of literature and art and its effect on the promotion of comprehensive development of human being. As the socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, and new technologies are forging new ways of production, the superiority of socialist production relations will surely be more fully actualized, and there will be a more solid foundation for the development of literature and art in the socialist direction.
