Bi Feiyu’s Fictional Creation Theory: An Exploration Based on His Reading Experience
(Abstract)
Guo Honglei
Bi Feiyu is a versatile writer whose representative works include short stories, novellas and novels. He may not be the most prolific writer, but his works with various themes at different stages are all impressive. Having started with avant-garde fiction, his works straddle historical reflection, current reality and criticism of modernity. Since the beginning of the new century, he has been depicting his characters through “relationship,” paying attention to individual destiny, and promoting the observation and reflection of human nature consistently. He concerns more on reading and has done many textual interpretations of the classics. Based on his reading experience, we can gain new insights into the basic characteristics and aesthetics of his creations.
