An Analysis of the Relationship between Channels and Contents of Online Literature

(Abstract)

Without the Internet, online literature would not have emerged. At the beginning, works of online literature were spontaneously uploaded by the author. This mode then developed into a unique writing paradigm under which authors were guided and constrained by literary websites according to categorized reader data. The year 2018 is an important milestone that marks the 20 years’ development of online literature in China. The history of online literature shows that the relationship between channels and contents, which has shaped the overall development of this literature, has gone through three stages: the game between channels and contents in the period of PC; the channel advantage of digital reading in the period of mobile device; the formation of the motto “content is all” in the period of IP (Intellectual Property).
