The Translation, Acceptance and Influence of Twentieth-Century American Left-Wing Literature in China
Wang Yuxia
The translation of twentieth-century American left-wing literature occurred throughout the process of China’s modernization, and promoted our understanding of American literature. In this historical context, from an independent ideological stance, the Chinese academia had selectively accepted, absorbed and transformed American left-wing literature in a dual resistance of feudalism and capitalism. After 1978, the translation of American left-wing literature quickly dropped. However, with its deeply modern ideological and artistic connotation, the translation and research are still carried out, and the works are still inspiring us.
