The Ninth Beijing Forum opens today

The Ninth Beijing Forum opens on November 2 in Beijing, and will last to 4. Beijing Forum, which was initiated in 2004, was themed as “The Harmony of Civilizations and Prosperity for All—Challenges and Opportunities: New Thinking in New Reality”, aiming at promoting the study of humanities and social sciences around the world.

 

Beijing Forum is an international forum co-sponsored by Peking University, Beijing Municipal Commission of Education, and Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies. About 300 prominent scholars and experts from home and aboard will bring valuable references to the reforms to the reforms and development, and to contribute to the harmony and progress of the society.

 

This year Beijing Forum will bring together scholars and experts worldwide to discuss a number of pertinent issues for profound overall changes in political landscape worldwide and the need for economic strategies to adapt to the new situation. Eight panel sessions will come up in these three days, followed as Rethinking Capitalism in the Post-crisis World, Faith and Society: Spiritual Reflections of Global Age, Improve Education in the Changing World Economy: Quality, Equity and Efficiency, Inheritance of the World Cities Spirit, etc. As well as two special panels as Student Panel for exploring on the theme of great transformation in the era from the perspective of youth, and Harvard-Yenching Institute Panel for discussing around “Faith, Society and New Social Media.

 

As an annual international forum it provides a very good chance for both eastern and western cultures to communicate and share with each other. By far, more than 3300 participants have attended the forum including well known politicians, Nobel Prize winners and other famous scholars from all over the world.
