History of Ethnicity in Northeast China to be published in 2013
a portrait of Donghu people in northeast China
On February 18th, The History of Ethnicity in Northeast China was granted approval for funding from the National Publication Foundation Planning and Management Office, and will be published by Jilin Literature and History Press later this year. The volume is edited by Jiang Weigong, chief librarian and dean of the School of History at Changchun Normal University. Research on the history of ethnicity in northeast China began in the 1930s, but studies generally only focused on one ethnicity, or compared one particular attribute across ethnicities in northern China. The History of Ethnicity in Northeast China will take a macroscopic angle in detailing the emergence and development of the Han, Donghu and Sushen peoples in northeast China.
The Chinese version appeared in Chinese Social Sciences Today, No. 417, Feb. 20, 2013
