Big Models and the Intelligent Society: An Exploration Based on Historical Materialism
(Abstract)
Xiao Feng
“Big Models” exhibit the technical characteristics and functional effects of “big intelligence,” “big application” and “big participation,” potentially marking the advent of intelligent society. Based on historical materialism’s perspectives on technosociety, productivity, modes of production, social organism theory, and technosocial morphology, it is possible to envision the intelligent productivity, the intelligent means of production, speech-controlled modes of production, and new forms of intelligent civilization potentially brought about by Big Models. The convergence of these changes and their interconnected effects signify the arrival of the intelligent society, profoundly influencing the course of history. A thorough understanding of these dynamics within the analytical framework of historical materialism is essential, and this understanding will simultaneously enrich and develop historical materialism itself.
