Novels by Lao Teng and the New Experience of Dongbei Literature

Lao Teng’s novelistic endeavors seamlessly blend the literary traditions of Dongbei (Northeastern China) with Confucian culture, forming a distinctive personal literary style. His concern for human rights and dignity infuses Dongbei literature with a warmer sentiment; his elegant and upright aesthetic style infuses its typically bold lines with a touch of delicacy. The epochal and contemporary nature of his works also reflect the Confucian spirit of engagement with the world. Thus, Lao Teng’s writing introduces new experiences to Dongbei literature.
