Online Genre Fiction as Contemporary Literature

Chinese online genre fiction has a distinct contemporaneity in terms of content and form. The rise of online genre fiction is a product of a new literary mechanism, which has developed greatly on the basis of traditional genre fiction. In terms of respect for people and affirmation of individuals, online genre fiction is in line with modern Chinese literature. Online genre fiction depicts a broad contemporary life, and as a literary work for mass readers, it has positive emotional guidance value. Online genre fiction has created a contemporary form that integrates readers’ reading and authors’ writing, which can better respond to the psychological needs of contemporary readers.
