Technology and Gender Studies in Feminist Perspective: Tradition and Future

With the current rapid technological change, this article argues for bringing a gender perspective back to the field of technology, and using feminist theory to look at the connection between technological change and gender equality. The article begins with a brief retrospective of the tradition of technology and gender studies within the feminist perspective and the technofeminist dialectical view of the mutual shaping of technology and gender in specific contexts, followed by the idea of conducting research on technology and gender from both the productive and the living spheres. On this basis, this article takes digital technology as an example to outline the research on the relationship between digital technology and gender from various aspects of production and life, and calls for a broader and deeper research on gender and technology under the vision of feminism.
