“Sex-Gender” in Controversy and Generation: A Discussion of Concepts and Relationships

Based on the academic discussions and social controversies on the disciplines and issues related to the sociology of sex and gender in recent years, this article focuses on the discourses of relevant scholars on the basic concepts involved in “sex-gender” and its relationship, touching upon the differences and shifts in the process of translations and knowledge paradigms. From the perspective of sex studies, the article also emphasizes the importance of “gender” in the development of sex studies, taking into account some simplified understandings, tensions and problems in contemporary Chinese society. We hope to explore a more positive, equal and friendly space for “sex-gender” dialogue and awareness in a cross-border and changing perspective.
