Towards Cross-Dimensional Criticism: Reflection on the Current Concept of “2-D World”

The concept of 2-D world indicates the virtualization of contemporary social life and the immersive consumer tendency for art and literary works, but it contains a series of binary opposition presuppositions inconsistent with contemporary development of art and literary works in new media forms. Moving towards cross-dimensional criticism, developing connections between dimensions, seeking for 3-D world elements in the 2-D world, and interpreting the 2-D phenomenon from the 3-D perspective are all conducive to further deepening the study of literature and art in new media forms.
