The Modern Transformation of Rural Areas Dominated by Patriarchal Clan System: On Wang Yuewen’s Novel Home Mountain

Wang Yuewen’s novel Home Mountain (Jia Shan) depicts the rural transition from the patriotism to modernity in a meticulous and convincing manner. It reflects the full charm of the rural areas dominated by patriarchal clan system and the heartwarming scenes there. Also, Home Mountain illustrates in detail the process of the rural areas dominated by patriarchal clan system coming to an end without success under the hard impact of a series of modern conceptions such as politics, science, education, and humanity.
