A high-profile meeting of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has adopted a landmark resolution on the major achievements and historical experience of the CPC’s 100 years of endeavors, according to a communique released on Nov. 11.

The resolution was reviewed and adopted at the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, held in Beijing from Nov. 8 to 11, said the communique of the plenum, according to the Xinhua News Agency.

It was stated at the session that the Party has led the people in great endeavors and accumulated valuable historical experience over the past century. This covers the following ten aspects: upholding the Party’s leadership, putting the people first, advancing theoretical innovation, staying independent, following the Chinese path, maintaining a global vision, breaking new ground, standing up for ourselves, promoting the united front, and remaining committed to self-reform.

The Resolution summarizes the achievements of the Party and state undertakings in the new era from 13 aspects and areas.

“These exciting achievements are obvious to all,” said Yu Wenli, a professor from the School of Marxism at Peking University. Remarkable achievements have been accomplished in the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics. China has witnessed comprehensive economic and social development, significant enhancement and consolidation of composite national strength, and the overall improvement of people’s lives.

Over the past hundred years, China has risen from a poor and weak country to the second largest economy in the world today, said Ouyang Kang, director of the Institute of State Governance at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. On the journey, the CPC has always ensured the principal status of the people, and stuck to its original aspiration and mission of seeking happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation. The Party has been striving to satisfy the people’s needs for a better life.

“For a century, the Party has been committed to fulfilling its original aspiration and mission, keeping heart-to-heart and working hand-in-hand with the Chinese people and the Chinese nation, and has always been at the forefront of the times,” said Song Yuehong, deputy director of the Institute of Contemporary China Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

“For the majority of economists, the most important mission now is to accelerate the construction of a theoretical system of economics with Chinese characteristics,” said Fang Ying, a professor at Xiamen University’s School of Economics.

The rich practice of the new and uniquely Chinese path to modernization is the most important material, as well as a unique advantage, for the theoretical research of economics with Chinese characteristics. Fang suggested summarizing the general laws behind the “Chinese miracle,” so as to construct an economic theory system with Chinese characteristics. The system should not only reflect Chinese characteristics, but also provide important experience for the development of human society.
