A New Exploration into the Changes in Contemporary Literary Genres

Nowadays, the changes in the structure, form of expression and even the basic attributes of literary genres have produced some texts that are difficult to classify, such as the mixed texts of different registers and media, interactive digital literature, and non-fictional texts challenging the fictional nature of literature, etc. These new literary genres and styles constantly refresh people’s understanding of literature and impact the existing rules of literary genre. Only by understanding and investigating the variation of current literary genres and styles, grasping the rules and characteristics of “there is only general principles and no fixed stereotypes,” and focusing more on the novelties and innovations of literary works, can we better reveal and conform to the development direction of literary activities.
