Tendency of Delicacy: A Symbolic Category of Traditional Aesthetics

The tendency of delicacy is the shared road of necessity for evolution of nature and human culture. The delicacy of classical art can be examined from four aspects. Firstly, the professional division of labor and the establishment of various disciplines in the domain of art indicated the sophisticated configuration of classical art. Secondly, the emergence of various artistic language systems symbolized the consciousness of ancient artistic creation about the particularity and universality of art in general. Thirdly, more and more masterpieces marked the coming of the peak of classical arts. Fourthly, there formed an interaction between artistic criticism, creation and appreciation. Therefore the history of classical aesthetics can be concluded as the history of delicacy of ancient art.
