Allegory of the Epoch and the Narration of Morality—Shi Yifeng and the “Realism” of Our Time

Through narrating the moral stories of type character, Shi Yifeng has worked out an allegorical representation of the epoch, and circumvented the aridness of individualized aesthetic formalism and the vacancy of “hysteric realism”. His topics about individual and society, reason and emotion, equality and justice in the contemporary social transformation have been successfully interwoven into a clear themed narration, which constitutes a realistic writing of universality for our time.
