China’s peaceful development and national strategy is guided by creative thinking, and this creative thinking is the joint product of thriving academic research, the accumulation of theories and a broad vision. On May 18, a forum concerning exchange and mutual learning among different cultures and building a community of shared future for mankind was held in Shanghai.
Wang Limin, executive deputy editor-in-chief of the Social Sciences in China Press, said that China will stay on the path of peaceful development. Building a community of shared future for mankind set the correct direction for China’s peaceful development and modernization. In the future, we will continue to organize various activities, contributing more to the development of a philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics and the establishment of its disciplinary, academic and discourse systems in particular. Therefore, China can better communicate its valuable experience through academic research, scientific principles and the establishment of disciplines.
Cai Tuo, director of the Institute of Globalization and Global Issues of China University of Political Science and Law, said that we should intensify our efforts to carry out holistic global studies through which we can explore the influence of the world’s hundreds’ of years of development on China’s progress. At a new threshold, the relation between China and the world has gone through historical changes, and now China is embracing the world through reform and opening up. Practice has proven that China is an important part of the world and China’s fate is closely related to the fate of mankind. Therefore, we need to adhere to opening up and the integration into economic globalization. In diplomatic activities, we should lay emphasis on integrity and intercommunity while attaching importance to cultural diversity and difference. Measures should be taken to balance the theory and practice of building a community of shared future for mankind, thereby advancing China’s progress along with human civilization.
Building a new model of international relations featuring mutual respect, fairness, justice and win-win cooperation is in line with building a community of shared future for mankind. Feng Weijiang, director of the National Security Division of the Institute of World Economics and Politics under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that, in the new era, China’s diplomacy, which draws its power from its distinct characteristics, continues to push for progress and security. China has proactively participated in global governance, integrated its own development with the world’s progress, and provided more and more quality public products to the world, which is benefiting a growing number of countries. Furthermore, China has made outstanding contributions to building a community of shared future for mankind and protecting and forging common human values.
