Philosophical Understanding in Chinese Contemporary Philosophy: The Horizon of Cultural and Education Systems and the Problems of the TimesAbstract

The understanding of philosophy has long been controversial in the philosophical circle of presentday China, resulting in the absence of its own focus of research. Most scholars express their own understanding in the respective ideological resources and semantic contexts of Chinese philosophy, Western philosophy or Marxist philosophy; and they are not really aware that such an understanding is grounded on the current living conditions, problems of the times and the academic institutions. The underlying conflict over this understanding reflects the exchange of ideas in Chinese contemporary philosophy. It also demonstrates that the so-called philosophical nature is not readymade but generated through constant reflection and construction.
