Sociology is a mobile subject. The travel of this discipline throughout the world, its changes adapted to local contexts, and its historical dynamics, are precisely responses to the historical changes in the world and society. The disciplinary history written around scholars or academic schools can clearly present the internal logic of and historical connection between theories and concepts. On the other hand, however, non-Western sociology also requires understanding, in addition to classical, modern and post-modern timeline. The increasing economic and political influence of non-Western societies offers not only a new interpretation of modernity but also possibility of shift in the center of sociological studies.
