The Development of Nongovernmental Think Tanks in China: A Comprehensive Evaluation Based on the AMI Index System（Abstract）

According to the requirements for building new-type think tanks in China, based on the development of think tanks, this paper provides a definition of the connotation and extension of nongovernmental think tanks. It also lists a selection of existing institutions that meet our criteria for nongovernmental think tanks, with an analysis of their development. Using the AMI index system developed by the Institute of Evaluation of Chinese Humanities and Social Sciences, the paper makes an evaluation of four types of nongovernmental think tanks, summarizing the successful experiences of some outstanding ones in terms of expertise, independence and influence. Finally it gives policy recommendations for future development of nongovernmental think tanks in China.
