The three figures of chance in economy

(Abstract)

René Passet

There is no agreement on the place chance occupies in the world.  What economists faced in earlier times was not such a broad issue. In terms of the relation between uncertainty of choices and their rationality, the evolving field the economists faced was plain. Later on, as the inevitable laws of contingency were revealed, it was found that its base was the Law of Large Numbers, which represents as a determinism flexible than rigid causal  chains: the frequency of organisation of things can be detected by possibilities.  The creative contingency is an approach to sudden changes. And we live in times of sudden changes: a world falls apart and another is being built before our eyes. The limited freedom we enjoy make us responsible for the world because we have to leave it to future generations.
