Remembering Great History and Highlighting Academic Discourse—A Review of Theoretical Research Achievements on the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War

The year 2015 coincides with the 70th anniversary of the victory of Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. General Secretary Xi Jinping and the Central Committee of the CPC have given it a high degree of attention and made timely decision-making arrangements which have been earnestly implemented by the relevant leading departments. Throughout China, scientific research institutes and experts and scholars in philosophy and the social sciences have been highly committed to the commemorative activities, presenting a large number of scientific research achievements with a high academic content and great academic influence. The breadth of their research work and the profundity of the questions they researched were unprecedented, as was the authoritative nature of the historical materials they located and used. General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered many important speeches, pointing out the correct direction for the relevant commemorative activities and theoretical research. The relevant academic establishments and ideology and theory publicity departments intensified their planning work and integrated their forces, strengthening their efforts to collect and reorganize historical materials, enhancing academic research and exchanges, and strengthening their efforts in public opinion work. In all fields and from all angles, they carried out in-depth systematic research into the Chinese people’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, making important breakthroughs on the basis of existing achievements. Compared with previous years, this year’s study of the subjects shows some new traits, including respect for historical facts, objectivity and fairness, sticking to the theme, focusing on the future, completeness and systematic nature, highlighting important points, overall grasp, courageous expression of opinions, international perspectives and innovative discourse, etc. The correct view of history has been insisted on throughout, the searching and tidying-up of historical materials has been sustained, and academic research and discrimination among historical facts have been constantly deepened, thus raising the study of the War of Resistance to a new level.
