Build the Principles of Cooperation in a New Type of Major-country Relations
(Abstract)
Liu Jianfei
The building of a new type of major-country relations is an unprecedented task which demands the support of a theoretical foundation. Existing theories, whether Western or Chinese, have difficulty in assuming this responsibility, but the principle of cooperation, involving both Chinese and Western cultural elements, is well fitted to undertake it. The Sino-American relationship has a special character that is out of the ordinary, but under the guidance of the principle of cooperation, it can look forward to the prospect of throwing off the “Thucydides trap” and avoiding the political tragedy of large countries. For both China and the world, the building of a new type of major-country relations centering on the principles of cooperation will facilitate a leap ahead in this relationship and in international relations.
