The Cultural Form of the Chinese Path to Modernization—An Examination Based on Historical Materialism

(Abstract)

Zhou Dan

The cultural form of the Chinese path to modernization is the distilled ideological embodiment of its practical experience. The unique attributes and functions of culture determine the dual connotation of this cultural form, reflecting both the conceptual content of cultural construction in the Chinese path to modernization and the conceptual content of the fivesphere integration plan. Studying the cultural form of the Chinese path to modernization from the perspective of historical materialism is not significant for our understanding of the intrinsic relationship between culture and civilization and grasping the theoretical basis and practical experience of the Chinese path to modernization, thereby forming a comprehensive understanding of it. It is also of great significance to our understanding of how we can, on the basis of solving the “ancient vs. modern and China vs.the West debate,” better undertake the new cultural mission, construct a modern Chinese society and create a new form of human civilization.
