The Evolution of Urban Spatial Network Research in China

With the rise of digital technology revolution, networking has become an important development direction for urban space research. Early research on urban spatial networks mostly focused on geographic spaces represented by urban agglomeration structures, but with the extension of the interrelationship between inside and outside the city, the research on urban spatial network has gradually broken through the limitations of geographical spatial factors and turned to the urban flow space. The research on urban spatial networks in the digital era has gradually extended from the physical space to the virtual space, and more attention has been paid to the interaction between cities and the network environment embedded in them. Deepening the research on urban spatial network provides a new opportunity to explore the optimal scale of urban development, reshape the spatial layout between urban and rural areas, and realize the coordinated development of urban and ecological environment.
