On the Imagination of Time in Science Fiction and Its Socio-Cultural Mechanisms

The time imagination of Chinese 21st-century science fiction is mainly presented in three ways: the imaginaries of linear time, anthropomorphic time, and time field. These three temporal imaginaries express the reflection and criticism of 21st-century science fiction on the development of science and technology, the manifestation of the individual’s independent consciousness and will to live, and the emphasis on the symbiotic relationship between the body, society, and the universe.
