Two Ways to Improve the Quality of Qualitative Research Argumentation
(Abstract)
Geng Shu
The difference between qualitative and quantitative research is not in the research concept, as qualitative research has always been empirical and quantitative research has never excluded interpretation. However, in terms of the quality of argumentation, some of the qualitative studies are lacking, as they have not been rigorously and systematically validated, making it difficult to judge what is right and what is wrong. Researchers may be able to improve the quality of qualitative argumentation from the perspectives of “how to improve qualitative questioning” and “how to design qualitative sampling” on the basis of reflecting on Research Design in the Social Sciences and related discussions. Through such systematic improvement steps, it may be possible to make qualitative research more profound and systematic, and at the same time promote mutual learning between qualitative and quantitative research methods.
