Multi-Dimensional Writings and Self-Reconstruction of Eastern Diplomatic History
(Abstract)
Yang Xinmo
After nearly twenty years of development, four unique features have been formed in China’s study on eastern diplomatic history, which are: a broadened spatial and temporal research scope on the diplomatic history of eastern countries; breakthroughs from the narrow scope of focusing on cultural history and political history in traditional historical studies; from a macro-historical perspective to approach and study history; a prominent vision of openness and determinations in innovation. In conclusion, the study in oriental diplomatic history interprets the history of the countries, nationalities and regions from the East, and even the entire Eastern societies from dimensions of space and time. Dominated by scholars of the Eastern history, it is a research paradigm that incorporates indigenous resources to narrate the historical process in the East.
