The Logic of Practice of the Communist International in the Light of World Revolution

(Abstract)

In the history of the communist movement, the Communist International or Comintern had a far-reaching and profound influence as a “world communist party” organization. Research on this subject should focus on two basic issues: the theory of world revolution and the world communist party. The former provided the theoretical basis for establishing the Comintern but underestimated the long-term nature of the course of world revolution. As the unified organization of world communist parties, the Comintern underestimated the complexity of relationships between itself and national communist parties; among the national communist parties themselves; and between the communist parties and the social democrats. The classic example of this is that despite establishing a close relationship with the Communist Party of China, the Comintern underestimated the particularity of the Chinese revolution. Seventy-one years after the disbanding of the Comintern, correctly analyzing its basic problems and historical balance sheet through an analytical framework that combines macro- and micro-dimensions is a major theoretical issue for the future development of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the destiny of world socialism. Taking the history as a mirror will contribute to highlighting the practical basis and timely value of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation in the era of globalization.
