Form and History: The Double Variation and Fusion Possibilities of Literary Criticism

Form and history are in a state of fragmentation in the evolution of literary criticism over the century. Classic Marxist writers explored the formal and historical dimensions of literary criticism and their unity, and later Marxist literary criticism made progress in the study of the mechanisms of transformation of form and content, structure and history. While drawing on the findings of formalist and structuralist criticism, literary criticism has to consider how to draw symbols to the outside world, to bridge the boundaries between language and reality, system and action, structure and event, and to explore the possibility of integrating form and history.
