Socialism with Chinese Characteristics Creates a New Form of Human Civilization

“Civilization” is a concept marking a state of human progress; it is a holistic summary and positive assessment of the results of human understanding and transformation of the world. The term “a form of civilization” can refer to civilizational patterns at different stages of historical development in the temporal sense, and in the spatial sense it can refer to the civilizational patterns in different regions of the world. Socialism with Chinese characteristics constitutes a form of civilization, because it is a civilizational creation by China, which has inherited the genes of Chinese civilization and incorporated the achievements of world civilizations, and unified material, political, spiritual, social and environmental fields. As a new and unique form of civilization emerging in the world, it is not a simple and typical form of civilization, rather, it is a complex and “atypical” one, which must be understood in a comprehensive manner from multiple dimensions of Chinese civilization, modern civilization and socialist civilization. It can be said that the new form of socialist civilization with Chinese characteristics is the contemporary form of Chinese civilization, the Chinese form of socialist civilization and the transcendent form of modern civilization. This new form of civilization has enriched the diversity of world civilizations, promoted exchanges and mutual understanding among civilizations, advanced the progress of human civilization and is playing a leading role in the future development of human civilization. Socialist civilization with Chinese characteristics has taken shape, but it is still developing and will have a clearer and more mature profile in the future.
