Realism: The Unique Background Colors of Chinese Literary Theory

In terms of the development and influence of Chinese literary theory, the realism is the most prominent of its kind, thus becoming one of the background colors of Chinese literary theory. Compared with European and American counterparts, the background colors of Chinese literary theory have the following three characteristics: a strong romantic element, a strong political character, and the guiding function of theories. The formation of the background colors is due to three reasons. From a historical perspective, the formation of Chinese realism as a creation method is the outcome of realistic choices. From a realistic perspective, Chinese society has a strong political character. From a cultural perspective, collectivism is highly regarded by Chinese society.
