Back to the Real Historical Context: A Review of Jin Chongji’s Achievements in Historical Research

As one of the earliest Marxist historians trained in new China, Jin Chongji has always adopted Marxist viewpoints and methods in observing, analyzing and writing history. His historical study always proceeds from reality and adheres to the principle that practice is the sole criterion for testing truth. At Fudan University, Jin laid a solid foundation for the discipline and teaching of modern Chinese history. During his work in the former Literature Research Office of the CPC Central Committee, Jin edited and wrote many biographies of CPC and state leaders that are still considered authoritative works in academic circles. After retirement, Jin actively responded to the call and continued his study of modern Chinese history and CPC history.
