The Report to the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China represents a political proclamation of achieving new victories in socialism building with Chinese characteristics under new historical circumstances, a guideline for building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and a programmatic document of innovating Marxist theories. It is highly thoughtful, theoretical, political, strategic and operable. In the new era of strategic opportunities, Chinese academia must uphold the spirit of the 18th National Party Congress to foster high theoretical consciousness and selfconfidence, keep abreast of our times and history, and focus on grand practical and theoretical issues, so as to build an academic discourse system with Chinese characteristics, Chinese style and Chinese spirit. To this end, we have organized this group of commentaries on “The Spirit of the 18th National Party Congress and Socialism with Chinese Characteristics.”
