Canonization of Contemporary Literature from the Perspectives of “Interpretation” and “Exegesis”

(Abstract)

Zhao Kun

Interpretation and exegesis, as major approaches to literary study and criticism, are both independent and unified with each other. They lend a perspective for practicing criticism on contemporary literature. How can interpretation and exegesis be exercised in different realistic contexts? What forms of literary history can they present? What structural differences will they cause in the face of evolving texts and cultural backdrops? What kind of logic is suitable for conducting criticism and writing history of criticism? Finally, scholars can look into the process of their involvement in knowledge production, dissemination, and acceptance as well as literary canonization.
