The Chinese Translation and Introduction of Foreign Studies of Japan: An Analysis Based on Sample Data (1993-2016)
(Abstract)
He Ping
The Chinese translation and introduction of foreign studies of Japan is an important part of Japanese studies in China. On the basis of the Catalogue of Works on Japanese Studies in China (1993-2016), published by the Editorial Office of Japanese Studies, Institute of Japanese Studies, CASS, we built a secondary database from selected non-Japanese works published abroad and translated into Chinese. Visual tools present directly the period, peak time and lag in these publications. Overall, as a major focus of our research on countries in the region, importing more high quality studies of Japan from abroad is well worthwhile. However, in terms of Chinese translations and introductions, while pursuing quantity, ensuring quality is more important than quantity, though both should be pursued.
