Deciphering the Genre “Code” of Mai Jia
(Abstract)
Peng Hong
In Mai Jia’s novels, such as Decoded, In the Dark and The Message, the “code” is regarded as the core image. In the process of narration, the “code” in his works contains the “labyrinth” of mysterious and profound philosophical thinking and reflects the pursuit of life and fate. In pursuit of the difficulty of writing, the deeper meaning, the height of personality construction and the breadth of literary presentation, Mai Jia blurs the boundaries between elegance and vulgarity, and crosses different contexts, integrating the narrative of avant-garde, decoding fate, praises of heroes, and cultural hot spots. This is Mai Jia’s main genre code, which has also been highly praised and generally recognized at all levels.
