For the People: The Spiritual Direction of Lu Yao’s Writing
(Abstract)
Zhao Xueyong
Lu Yao’s writing attitude had carried out the fundamental principle of “People First.” He had juxtaposed the writer’s own position, writing behavior and writing objects, and penetrated deeply into the people’s sense of identity. It was this self-consciousness of identity that made his works not satisfied with the representation of social problems, but with the discovery of social problems. In his works, the people were no longer the group which writers speak for, or the social class which was deeply sympathized with by others, but the subjective existence of the writers and their works. The character of “for the people” in Lu Yao’s works were fully manifested in his adherence to the realistic method of creation, showing the mood of the times and the mental trend of the people in contemporary China.
