“The Author,” Objectivity and Scientific Myths in the Humanities(Abstract)
Tian Song
“The author” is the academic and normative singular first person used in the narrative in the studies of humanities. It is an externalization of the knowledge imagery of absolutism, which demonstrates the pursuit of “objectivity” in form and content. It is the penetration of scientism into the humanities. However, research in humanities should be, and can only be, subjective in nature. An article is the expression of the author’s ideas about the real world or the texts. It is an epistemological arrogance and illusion to believe that man can obtain transcendental objectivity.
