Peer Review in the Academic Community: Exploration and Reflection Needed (Abstract)
Xia Dongrong
Academic societies are groups with most prominent features of scientific community, which have not only a long history of academic evaluation but also unique advantages, including peer nature in disciplines, democracy in evaluation, academic focus in exchanges, independence of interest, etc. However, till now evaluation within academic society has not been brought into full play in China, either because of the lag in institutional improvement and unfavorable policy environment, or of the deficiency in evaluation mechanisms and academic ecology. In recent years, more and more attention has been paid to its importance and value. To make it more effective, it is necessary to have a deeper exploration and reflection on its approach and direction.
