The Generative Logic of the CPC Perspective on Civilization
(Abstract)
Zhang Bo
Perspectives on civilization reflect people’s viewpoints and attitudes towards the civilizations of various nations and ethnicities. It addresses questions on how to view civilization, the relationships between different civilizations, and the future trajectory of human civilization. As it advances Chinese modernization, the Communist Party of China (CPC) has both reinforced the practical basis for its long-term governance and continuously explored the principles of civilizational development, propelling theoretical innovation within the Party. This has developed into a systematic CPC perspective on civilization, which is a product of a distinct set of theoretical contexts, cultural backgrounds, practical foundations, and subjective standpoints, emerging as a theoretical achievement from the interplay of diverse factors. The Marxist perspectives on civilization, along with traditional Chinese perspectives, form the “essence” and “origin” of the CPC’s perspective of civilization. The CPC’s leadership in civilizational exploration over the past century has laid a significant practical foundation for the development of this perspective, while the cultural initiative of the Party members has established a subjective consciousness that is vital for the emergence of the CPC’s perspective on civilization.
