A Transformative Analysis of the Concept of Localized Literary Classification Markers

(Abstract)

Zhuo Jin

The concept of“localized naming of literature” as a literary classification is not merely a literary issue but is closely linked to China’s modernization efforts. Investigating this topic within the broader context of social development helps clarify the role of literature in the integration and separation processes of modernization narratives. By tracing the evolution of contemporary literature’s old and new local naming methods, their fundamental characteristics, aesthetic values, and cultural significance are revealed. This phenomenon and its composition authentically reflect the high integration of literature with Chinese path to modernization. Literature both participates in and expresses modernization, while the Chinese path to modernization promotes the transformation of literary classification identifiers. Therefore, new “localized naming of literature” not only draws on historical experiences and deeply engages with social development but also innovatively reflects the spirit of the times, shaping a new form of human civilization.
