Renowned for his contributions to Marxist historiography both domestically and internationally, Hou Wailu devoted his career to the Sinicization of Marxist historical science. His scholarly path, marked by an integration of social and intellectual history, led to the establishment of the Hou Wailu School—a Chinese intellectual tradition in history research. Upholding rigorous standards in scientific inquiry and truth-seeking, Hou fostered an academic ethos characterized by precision and pragmatism.
