A Path of Thought: From L’écart to L’inouï

This article reviews Professor François Jullien’s path of exploration from Western philosophy to Chinese language and thought. Through China, he deconstructs Western ontology from the outside, thinks about the other while reflecting on the self by coming face to face with the other, liberates European thought from its interrogative dilemmas and develops a series of concepts that are intrinsically coherent and sustained, and reexamines strategy, ethics, and aesthetics. This intellectual displacement opens up many unthought-of territories.
